Hi friends! It’s that time of the year again . . . Happy Mercury Retrograde! 💖
I’m always UMM-ing and AHH-ing about writing my Substack, because each piece I write is always approximately 49573842 words long and takes twice the amount of time, but I’m challenging myself today to write this entire piece in just 30 mins*.
Can I do it? We’ll see. *sets timer*
AND WE’RE OFF!!!!!!! 😃 ⌇
So first thing’s first, welcome to Virgo season. ♍️ The Sun moves into this pure, detail-oriented, hermit-like, analytical, occasionally perfectionistic sign today . . . and just hours later, Mercury – our planet of communication, information, and transportation – also stations retrograde 🔙 at 21º Virgo.
Mercury Retrograde is probably THE MOST FAMOUS astrological transit, trumping even the revered Saturn Return, because 1) it happens so often (3–4 times a year!), and 2) there’s so much fear-mongering around it.
I get it, though: because Mercury rules our everyday things, like emails, trains, cars, and electrical appliances, we *FEEL* it whenever a Zoom call drops or a fridge breaks down (a sad but true story from a past Rx 🥲).
So, with so much physical proof of Mercury Retrograde, it’s only normal for us to feel shooketh about it.
BUT FEAR NOT, MY FRIENDS . . . this Mercury Retrograde is different.
In fact, I’d even go so far as to say — we can use it to our advantage. 🤭
How? And why?
Enter, the sly lil personal planet that’s been retrograde since time immemorial (aka July) . . .
Venus. 💖
Venus, our sweet planet of love, beauty and values, has been dancing backwards in the sky since July 22nd, giving us both Barbie fever 💖 and existential crises about our relationships. I don’t know about you, but I definitely have been swept up in the lavender (pink?) haze — questioning my self worth, my work, my significant other of 7 years, and everything in between.

As Venus had her cazimi with the Sun last week and slowly emerged as a Morning Star, however, I’ve been feeling something akin to hope creeping along the horizon as she begins her ascent. And now, Mercury has joined the chat, too.
You see, MERCURY and VENUS’s retrograde journeys will overlap — from August 23, lasting all the way to September 3. ⭐️
I feel like this overlap is a crucial piece of our Venus Retrograde story, bringing closure (and clarity!) to all the new insights that have transpired since then.
Mercury Rx in Virgo is about discernment, details, reassessment. Going over things with a fine-toothed comb, to find the elusive ‘needle in a haystack’, so to speak. What is YOUR needle? Your linchpin? Your WHY?
If you’ve been feeling hazy, lost, or not quite able to articulate your inner shifts . . . Use this Mercury Retrograde to set the record straight. ✍️
Write it. Plan it. Heck, put it in your Google Calendar.
Figure out the details, and bring CLOSURE to your Venus Rx story. 🥹
So that by the time September 4th rolls around, and Venus retrograde comes to an end followed by a lucky Mercury-Jupiter trine, we’ll get to look back on this time with fresh eyes — and celebrate how it feels to now be finally on the other side.
