Purpose and legacy have been on my mind these past few weeks.
Makes sense, because the North Node in the sky has made its slow descent on my Midheaven in Aries.
Today, they are exact.
The North Node is often a point of destiny. In Aries, it represents courage β the fearless warrior. The one who plunges into battle and emerges victorious.
I havenβt embodied that sense of courage in my own career for a while now.
Too bogged down by what-ifs and have-nots. γ°οΈ
Our Midheaven is the highest point in our natal chart. Our zenith, if you will. Because it is associated with our public reputation, weβve tied the Midheaven to our careers β but I prefer to think of it as our calling. Our purpose. The way in which we need to show up for our lifeβs work to actually feel fulfilled.
Working with our Midheaven is such a beautiful way to understand how we approach our careersβand what needs we desire to be met through our work.

Iβm writing this to you on my long train ride home after a little solo adventure in the city.
A few days ago was the Mercury cazimi in Gemini βοΈ Fancy astrology-speak for: our messenger planet was being purified in the heart of the Sun. Normally we would feel uplifted, clear headed, bursting with clarity or ideas. But it was square Saturn β planet of restriction. Our words bear weight now, in more ways than one. I like to think of this as:
What promises are you making to yourself? π« Are you keeping up your end of the bargain?
Lately, Iβve found it really difficult to commit to anything. A function of so many planets in Gemini: the air sign that prioritizes curiosity and flexibility. I find myself having a thought, like βoh, Iβd like to work out of this cafeβ, or βIβd like to take a train to check out this book exhibitβ, but then the immediate next thought is one of denial.
βOh, but itβs so far.β
βIβm so tired.β
βI have dancing tonightβ¦ should Iβ¦?β
The more I pay attention to my thoughts, the more I realize how often I shut myself down before I even see it through. If this life is about learning to listen to our desires, our glimmers, our inner nudges β then it starts with following through.
Even if it doesnβt work out the way we planned.
In case you missed itβ¦
β¨ your glimmers know the way β¨
I woke up and decided I wanted to go to a book exhibit downtown.
Immediately, I got an influx of excuses from within.
But I knew from past experience that if I flaked out on the small things like this, Iβd spend the rest of the day in a listless haze anyway. It was better to see things through than it was to deny myself preemptively.
True enough, nothing ended up going to plan. After a 45 minute train into the city, I finally found the exhibit, only to see a loooooong line snaking out of the shop.
βIs The Fox Wife still available?β I asked the employee, the only title I wanted. Predictably, she shook her head.
Strangely, I wasnβt disappointed. Instead, I felt proud.
Proud that I had identified a desire, made a commitment, and saw it through. The mall was bustling and overstimulating and I waited 40 minutes for lunch and took the wrong train home. By every other measure, the trip was a bust.
But Iβm sitting here with the biggest silliest grin behind my mask.
π What is a promise you made to yourself recently that you saw through? How did it make you feel?
Iβm telling you this story because Iβm realizing that how we do anything is how we do everything.
When the going gets tough, do we follow through?
Or do we self sabotage, nitpick, doubt, fumble, and make excuses?
Since my last post on glimmers, Iβve been following one of my ownβ¦
π Career and purpose readings. π
Maybe itβs because Iβve been stuck in a rut in my own business.
Maybe itβs because the North Node is kissing my Midheaven.
But Iβve been thinking a lot about how we show up β for our businesses, for our purpose, and for our selves.
Legacy isnβt built through the dreams we scribble on fancy vision boards.
Itβs built through the tiny, negligible, everyday steps we take.
We build our legacy every time we say yes to something we desire.
Every time we turn away from what turns us off.
Every time we make a decision, and see it through.
Because how we do anythingβ¦
is how we do everything. β‘

My midheaven is in Pisces and Iβm a writer. I always have been and have my B.A. in Communications, with a focus in Journalism. My day job isnβt writing, but my side job is. Iβve also started journaling regularly again.
I also have an Aries MC! A promise I made to myself (prolly about 7-9 years ago) was that I would go abroad again, and to treat that goal with fiery determination even if it took awhile. I just returned from a 5-week trip out of the country!! (Which I actually planned using my AstroMap lines.) Now I'm definitely in a place of "...Uh, so now what?" but it feels really good to have finally made it, and to have had a lot of my suspicions confirmed about how much I'd enjoy being in another part of the world.
P.s. This is my first comment as a newly-minted subscriber as of this morning!! :')
