Hi friends!! IT’S HERE. TODAY’S THE DAY.
Are you ready to read my first ever paid horoscopes????? 🥰🥰🥰
So, a lil backstory on this before we dive in: My first touchpoint with Astrology, as for many of us, was through horoscopes. You know those grainy, 150-word blurbs in the Sunday paper pull-out? I consumed those with an almost shameful frenzy in my teens, cutting them out (“one for me - Pisces, and one for my crush - Sagittarius”) and sticking them in my notebook for easy reference. 🦋
These horoscopes have evolved into the fun, pop spirituality Sun sign horoscopes we continue to see in magazines and IG accounts today. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with them, of course — they continue to keep Astrology accessible, and serve as a wonderful gateway to learning & discovering more about ourselves. But, they are also just ONE TEENSY TINY SLICE of your natal chart as a whole. 🪐 When looking at horoscopes, in particular, it’s usually more helpful to look at your Rising sign — because it illuminates a particular area of life (we call them Houses) that will take precedence for this period of time!
Writing these horoscopes was one of the most challenging things I’ve had to do in my nascent Astrology career. 🥵 Funnily enough, predictive work is something I am desperately insecure about. Reading a chart? No problem! Interpreting the current astrology? Piece of cake! Write a 400 word blurb on how the upcoming New Moon will affect this particular Rising sign, including transits? Um… hold my beer. *runs in the other direction* 💨
It has been a HUUUUGE growth curve, spending hours a day sitting at my desk, researching, reading, learning, puzzling over how to say the same thing 12 ways — but I am SO thankful for this opportunity, and to have seen it through. When I told Anthony this would be my first time writing ‘scopes, he was gracious and assured me I would be fine. He believed in me before I even believed in myself. 🥹
And when I submitted the final draft for feedback at 1AM my time, this was his response:
