Confession: Growing up, I hated to cry. I saw tears as weak. Annoying. It says so much about my relationship with the feminine, and what I’ve eventually had to learn to undo.

These days, it’s a lot easier to cry. To let the water flow. Water is the element of emotion, after all, and we have an abundance of it under today’s Pisces full moon lunar eclipse.

We are officially in the eclipse portal.

Did you know this Substack is an eclipse baby? ꩜

Eclipses have been responsible for some of the greatest shifts in my life, and this one is no exception. The Pisces lunar eclipse is happening on 17/18 Sept at 25ΒΊ Pisces, one degree off from my Venus.

And I am navigating the greatest relational shift in my entire life. Astrology doesn’t get more literal than that.

Eclipses are a fast-track for destiny. You might notice a lot of change materializing in your circles right now: break-ups, job loss, fights boiling over. Pisces is synonymous with endings. If you are grieving the loss of something right now, this full moon eclipse is the perfect time to do it.

Astro Butterfly writes about the difference between a North Node eclipse and a South Node eclipse. North Node eclipses β€” which this one is β€” is less about letting go and more about choosing anew. There is an element of decision for this eclipse; the sense of choosing new pathways. It’s scary, because we have never walked that road before.

But the path is laid for us now. All we need to do is take the first step.

That’s where the medicine of Pisces comes in. Pisces is the last sign of the zodiac. Everything melting, merging into one. For something to begin, you must first let the old die. You must acknowledge what has come before. And you must grieve.

We don’t grieve enough as a society.

I always found it strange, how we have rituals for death but not anything else. What about divorce? Job loss? Hysterectomies? When my mom had her uterus cut out of her body from a cancer scare a few years ago, I wanted to hold a goodbye ceremony for it but she wouldn’t let me.

These days, crying is the best defense I have against a society that refuses to grieve.

I listen to music. I let my heart break. I let the tears run in rivulets down my face. It doesn’t need to be fancy. Put your AirPods in. Take a walk. Ask your friend for the keys to their empty apartment. Crawl on your knees in the dark.

Take care of your emotional body this week β€” there is nothing more important than taking the time to say a proper goodbye. πŸ•ŠοΈ

And if you feel caught in the throes of grief, remember…

The only way out is through.
